The Clive Berghofer Toowoomba Mountaineers can now officially call the USQ Clive Berghofer Recreational Centre in Baker Street – home.
The agreement between the Mountaineers and the USQ Student Guild was announced this morning.IMG_5556The badging of USQ CBRC as the home of the Mountaineers will now allow for the priority use of the centre for homegames, team training and player individual shooting practice.Up until now the Mountaineers, who are marketed by Mi Media & PR, had to compete with other sports and events for use of the centre.Effective immediately the partnership with the USQ Student Guild will result in• Priority use of USQ CBRC for Home Games, Team Training and player individual shooting practice.
• Badging of USQ CBRC as the Home of the Mountaineers.
• USQ Student Guild assistance in staging QBL Home Games, organisation of school clinics and any program that the partners agree to organise.
• USQ Student Guild promoting the Home Games within the USQ Community.
• USQ Student Guild help in promoting the Club Program including the “USQ Positive Choices through Basketball” school clinics.

“This is the most exciting thing that has happened for Toowoomba Basketball and the Mountaineers for quite some time,” MountaineersChairman John Gouldson said.

“It will lead us into a new era of professionalism as we move into 2015.”

The Chairman has been quick to praise the efforts of University of Southern Queensland – Australia Student Guild General Manager Glenn Roberts in proactively moving towards the extended partnership.

The Agreement will remain in force until 31st December 2015 and will be reviewed annually.

“We welcome the Mountaineers into their new home and we look forward to a long and positive relationship,” Mr Roberts said.

The partnership can’t be understestimated with the Mountaineers QBL and SBL teams now able to train acorss the 3 courts.

The Mountaineers will officially sign off on the partnership with the USQ Student Guild at the next home game on Saturday 21st June.

With promotions having already begun across the University expectations are of a record crowd to welcome in the new era.

A special tribute is also planned for former Mountaineers players.
